Why this smartphone is built for you

The Motorola Moto G (2013)

The Motorola Moto G (1st Gen.) is an entry-level smart phone running Android Kit Kat. It offers specs comparable to many top end smartphones and is regarded by many as the benchmark device in this price range.

This phone has a 4.5 inch HD touchscreen with scratch resistant Gorilla Glass and a water-resistant coating. The screen displays in 328PPI (Pixels Per Inch). The average PPI for a modern smartphone is 255.

The Moto G has a 5MP camera, can record video in up to 720p and has a 1.3MP front facing camera for taking selfies and making video calls.

Performance is provided by a 1.2GHz quad core processor and 1GB RAM. Based upon its processor speed and memory, this phone receives an unmudlr performance rating of 70 out of 100.

Battery Life

The Moto G has an estimated battery life of around 24 hours. The average smartphone battery life is around 10 hours. It has a battery capacity of 2070mAh (MilliAmp hours). The average battery capacity is 1950mAh.

1GB (Gigabyte) is equal to roughly 500 pictures or 250 songs. The Moto G comes with 8GB internal storage and has Google Drive installed which gives you an additional 15GB of free cloud storage. This phone does not have an expandable memory card slot.

The Moto G has Bluetooth which enables it to communicate with other Bluetooth devices (such as a Bluetooth handsfree kit) and it has Wi-Fi which means that it can connect to your home network or public Wi-Fi hotspots such as those available in many coffee shops, cafes or hotels. This phone also supports wireless streaming via Miracast.

Dual SIM

This phone comes in a dual SIM version (called the Motorola Moto G Dual) that enables you to pop in two SIM cards at once and choose the one you want to use. This comes in handy if you are planning to use your phone abroad extensively or want to keep your business and personal calls separate.

The Moto G has an FM radio and an MP3 player. It is able to integrate with social media via designated Facebook and Twitter apps and comes with Google Voice Search installed which enables you to control your device simply by talking to it. The Moto G comes preloaded with Google Maps, Gmail, Chrome, Google+ and YouTube. Other apps, such as Instagram, WhatsApp, Snapchat and Spotify are available to download from the Google Play Store, along with the latest music, films, TV shows and games.

The Motorola Moto G is excellent value for money and has many features that are normally only available on phones twice this price, such as the full HD screen. Motorola's Moto G is a real stand out device in the sub £100 market, although the lack of expandable storage may prove problematic for more media intensive users.
