The LG G3

The G3 is LG's flagship smartphone for 2014. It is an update to 2013's G2 and runs on a version of Android KitKat augmented with LG's 'Practical' UX. It has an impressive list of features, offers good performance and an excellent battery life. It competes at the highest level of the market.


This phone has a 5.5 inch 2K HD touchscreen that displays in 538PPI (Pixels Per Inch). The average PPI for a modern smartphone is 255.


The LG G3 has a 13MP camera with an LED flash, can record video in Ultra HD 4K and has a 2.1MP front facing camera for taking selfies and making video calls.


Performance is provided by a 2.5GHz quad core processor and 3GB RAM. Based upon its processor speed and memory, this phone receives an unmudlr performance rating of 96 out of 100.

Battery Life

The G3 has an estimated battery life of around 19 hours. The average smartphone battery life is around 10 hours. It has a battery capacity of 3000mAh (MilliAmp hours). The average battery capacity is 1950mAh. The battery on this phone is removable. This phone also supports wireless charging (requires the purchase of a compatible wireless chargepad).


1GB (Gigabyte) is equal to roughly 500 pictures or 250 songs. The G3 comes with 32GB internal storage and an expandable memory card slot which makes it possible for you to add a further 128GB external storage. It also comes with Google Drive installed which gives you an additional 15GB of free cloud storage.


The LG G3 comes 4G ready so can take advantage of high speed mobile Internet in locations where it is available. It has Bluetooth which enables it to communicate with other Bluetooth devices (such as a Bluetooth handsfree kit). It has Wi-Fi which means that it can connect to your home network or public Wi-Fi hotspots such as those available in many coffee shops, cafes or hotels. The G3 is able to connect to HDMI enabled TV's or projectors (requires a SlimPort to HDMI adapter). It is able to connect to DLNA or Miracast enabled devices (such as a laptop or smart TV) meaning that you can stream content both to and from this phone wirelessly. It has NFC compatibility which enables you to make contactless payments and share files with your friends. This phone also has an infrared blaster which gives it the ability to control most TV's or home cinema systems.


The G3 has an FM radio and an MP3 player. It is able to integrate with social media via designated Facebook and Twitter Apps and it comes preloaded with Google Maps, Gmail, Chrome, Google+ and YouTube. Other apps, such as Instagram, WhatsApp, Snapchat and Spotify are available to download from the Google Play Store, along with the latest music, films, TV shows and games.


The G3 offers many improvements over last year's model and is a strong competitor in all areas. The screen is very sharp, performance is fast and the camera is excellent. This is a superb addition to LG's range and a phone to seriously consider.
