Why this smartphone is built for you

The Nokia Lumia 630

The Nokia Lumia 630 is a mid-range smartphone that runs on Windows Phone 8.1. It is an upgrade to the popular Lumia 520 and offers much of the same functionality as the flagship models, but at a more affordable price.

This phone has a 4.5 inch touchscreen made from Gorilla Glass (that works even when wearing gloves). It displays in 218PPI (Pixels Per Inch). The average PPI for a modern smartphone is 255.

The Lumia 630 has a 5MP camera and can record video in up to 720p. This phone does not have a front facing camera.

Performance is provided by a 1.2GHz quad core processor and 0.5GB RAM. Based upon its processor speed and memory, this phone receives an unmudlr performance rating of 65 out of 100.

Battery Life

The Lumia 630 has an estimated battery life of around 16 hours. The average smartphone battery life is around 10 hours. It has a battery capacity of 1830mAh (MilliAmp hours). The average battery capacity is 1950mAh. The battery on this phone is removable.

1GB (Gigabyte) is equal to roughly 500 pictures or 250 songs. The Lumia 630 comes with 8GB internal storage and an expandable memory card slot which makes it possible for you to add a further 128GB external storage.

The Lumia 630 has Bluetooth which enables it to communicate with other Bluetooth devices (such as a Bluetooth handsfree kit). It has Wi-Fi which means that it can connect to your home network or public Wi-Fi hotspots such as those available in many coffee shops, cafes or hotels. It is also able to connect to DLNA enabled devices (such as a laptop or smart TV) meaning that you can stream content both to and from this phone wirelessly.

Dual SIM

This phone comes in a dual SIM version (called the Nokia Lumia 630 Dual) that enables you to pop in two SIM cards at once and choose the one you want to use. This comes in handy if you are planning to use your phone abroad extensively or want to keep your business and personal calls separate.

The Nokia Lumia 630 has an FM radio and an MP3 player with the Nokia Music (an app that provides unlimited music streaming without the need for an additional subscription). It is able to integrate with social media via designated Facebook and Twitter apps and it comes with Excel, PowerPoint and Word documents, ideal for last minute adjustments before important business meetings. This phone comes preloaded with the Nokia Drive and Nokia Transit apps. Nokia Drive is a voice guided sat-nav that can also download maps for offline use and Nokia Transit gives you detailed bus, train and tube information in many of the UK's major cities. Other apps, such as YouTube, Instagram, WhatsApp and Spotify are available to download from the Windows Phone Store.

The Nokia Lumia 630 is a competent smartphone with a long battery life and good performance. It has a good array of features and is likely to appeal to the teenage/student market. At under £100, this is an excellent addition to the entry-level smartphone market.
