Why this smartphone is built for you

The Nokia Lumia 925

The Nokia Lumia 925 is a top-end smartphone that runs on Windows Phone 8.1. It is an updated version of 2012's Lumia 920. It is an attractive and well-constructed phone with an excellent camera.

This phone has a 4.5 inch HD touchscreen that displays in 332PPI (Pixels Per Inch). The average PPI for a modern smartphone is 255.

The Lumia 925 has an 8MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics, can record video in up to 1080p and has a 1.2MP front facing camera for taking selfies and making video calls.

Performance is provided by a 1.5GHz dual core processor and 1GB RAM. Based upon its processor speed and memory, this phone receives an unmudlr performance rating of 48 out of 100.

Battery Life

The Lumia 925 has an estimated battery life of around 18 hours. The average smartphone battery life is around 10 hours. It has a battery capacity of 2000mAh (MilliAmp hours). The average battery capacity is 1950mAh. This phone is compatible with Qi wireless charging.

1GB (Gigabyte) is equal to roughly 500 pictures or 250 songs. The Lumia 925 comes with 16 or 32GB internal storage (depending upon the model). This phone does not have an expandable memory card slot.

The Lumia 925 comes 4G ready so can take advantage of high speed mobile Internet in locations where it is available. It has Bluetooth which enables it to communicate with other Bluetooth devices (such as a Bluetooth handsfree kit). It has Wi-Fi which means that it can connect to your home network or public Wi-Fi hotspots such as those available in many coffee shops, cafes or hotels. The Lumia 925 can connect to DLNA enabled devices, such as a smart TV or laptop, enabling you to stream content both to and from this phone. It also has NFC which means that you can make contactless payments and wirelessly share files with your friends.

The Lumia 925 has an FM radio and an MP3 player. It is able to integrate with social media via designated Facebook and Twitter apps and it is compatible with Excel, PowerPoint and Word documents, which is ideal for last minute adjustments before those important meetings. It also comes with Data Sense installed, an app that helps you track how much data you use each month. This phone comes preloaded with the City Lens, Nokia Drive and Nokia Transit apps. City Lens superimposes points of interest over the image the phone receives from its camera, Nokia Drive is a voice guided sat-nav that can also download maps for offline use and Nokia Transit gives you detailed bus, train and tube information in many of the UK's major cities. Other apps, such as YouTube, Instagram, WhatsApp and Spotify are available to download from the Windows Phone Store.

Although now superseded by the Lumia 930, the Nokia 925 is a solid performer in all areas and offers a good alternative to the many Android phones in this section of the market. The lack of expandable storage may, however, prove problematic for more media intensive users.
