The HTC One M7

The HTC One M7 is a top-end smart phone running a version of Android KitKat that has been augmented with HTC's 'Sense' UI. It is considered by many to be the best smartphone released in 2013. It was replaced in HTC's lineup in 2014 by the One M8.

Display

This phone has a 4.7 inch HD touchscreen that displays in 468PPI (Pixels Per Inch). The average PPI for a modern smartphone is 255.

Camera

The HTC One has a 4UP (UltraPixel) camera. UltraPixel cameras are designed to work better in low light than Megapixel cameras. To the naked eye, a 4 UltraPixel camera will produce images of roughly a similar quality to a 13 MP camera. The One can also record video in up to 1080p and has a 2.1MP front facing camera for taking selfies and making video calls.

Performance

Performance is provided by a 1.7GHz quad core processor and 2GB RAM. Based upon its processor speed and memory, this phone receives an unmudlr performance rating of 83 out of 100.

Battery Life

The One has an estimated battery life of around 19 hours. The average smartphone battery life is around 10 hours. It has a battery capacity of 2300mAh (MilliAmp hours). The average battery capacity is 1950mAh.

Storage

1GB (Gigabyte) is equal to roughly 500 pictures or 250 songs. The HTC One comes with 32 or 64GB internal storage (depending upon the model) and it comes with Google Drive installed which gives you an additional 15GB of free cloud storage. This phone does not have an expandable memory card slot.

Connectivity

The One comes 4G ready so can take advantage of high speed mobile Internet in locations where it is available. It has Bluetooth which enables it to communicate with other Bluetooth devices (such as a Bluetooth handsfree kit). It has Wi-Fi which means that it can connect to your home network or public Wi-Fi hotspots such as those available in many coffee shops, cafes or hotels. It has NFC which enables you to make contactless payments and share files with your friends. The One is able to connect to DLNA and Miracast enabled devices (such as a laptop or smart TV) meaning that you can stream content both to and from your phone wirelessly and it can connect to devices via HDMI which makes it easy to hook up to your TV or projector (requires a microUSB to HDMI adapter). This phone also has an infrared blaster which gives it the ability to control most TV's or home cinema systems.

Dual SIM

This phone comes in a dual SIM version (called the HTC One M7 Dual SIM ) that enables you to pop in two SIM cards at once and choose the one you want to use. This comes in handy if you are planning to use your phone abroad extensively or want to keep your business and personal calls separate.

Features

The HTC One has an FM radio and MP3 player with BoomSound provided by Beat Audio. It is able to integrate with social media via designated Facebook and Twitter Apps and comes preloaded with Google Maps, Gmail, Chrome, Google+ and YouTube. Other apps, such as Instagram, WhatsApp, Snapchat and Spotify are available to download from the Google Play Store, along with the latest music, films, TV shows and games.

Summary

The HTC One comes loaded with features, has a premium feel and an attractive design. This combined with this phone's excellent performance means that the HTC One is the complete package. Although it has now been superseded by the HTC One M8, this is still a very attractive option and worthy of serious consideration.
