The BlackBerry Curve 8520

The Curve 8520 is the entry-level phone in the BlackBerry range. It is built to manage both your business and social life and is as adept with social networking as it is with your emails.

Display

This phone has a QWERTY keyboard sat beneath a 2.46 inch screen that displays in 152 PPI (Pixels Per Inch). The average PPI for a modern smartphone is 255.

Camera

The Curve 8520 has a 2MP camera and can record video in up to QVGA (320x240). This phone does not have a front facing camera.

Performance

Performance is provided by a 0.5GHz single core processor and 0.3GB RAM. Based upon its processor speed and memory, this phone receives an unmudlr performance rating of 14 out of 100.

Battery Life

The BlackBerry Curve 8520 has an FM radio and an MP3 player. It is able to integrate with social media via designated Facebook and Twitter apps and comes preloaded with BBM, BlackBerry Maps and Documents To Go. Other apps, such as YouTube, WhatsApp, Spotify and LinkedIn are available to download from BlackBerry World along with all of the latest music, films, TV shows and games.

Summary

BlackBerry's Curve 8520 is a good introduction to the BlackBerry range. Its excellent messaging capabilities are, however, somewhat compromised by the phone's lack of 3G.
